The activists of CPI (M) who were on an indefinite hunger strike for demanding the issue of the ration cards and the completion of Indiramma Houses in the district, organised dharnas in the city on Thursday. The agitators led by former mayor party district secretary and others staged a sit-in on the main road at Gandhi Statue and on other roads. They started slogans demanding the government to complete the 34,000 houses allotted under Indiramma Housing Scheme and should handover them to the beneficiaries instantly. The protestors were also demanding the issuing of ration cards and pensions to all the eligible persons in the district.Meanwhile, the indefinite hunger strike, launched by five party leaders, entered fourth day on Thursday. CPI (M) town secretary and others participated in the dharnas.
